The draws and latest results for the Northumbria County Closed 2020, being held at Tynemouth Squash Club between Wed 22nd and Sun 26th January, are available through the Tournaments section on the League Master homepage.
In a strong Men's A event, current holder and number one seed Max Forster (Northumberland Club) attempts to make it a hat-trick of titles, with strong competition provided by former champion and second seed Liam Gutcher (Newcastle University), multiple former champion and last year's finalist Dave Barnett (Northumberland Club), previous finalist Paul Lord (Newbiggin) and a host of other challengers. There will be some very competitve matches throughout this event, with the first round on Thursday from 6pm.
In the Ladies event, current champion Sam Ward (Northern) is looking for her seventh title and seeded to meet last year's finalist Emma Gregson (Northumberland Club), with a number of younger players, including Harriet Wight and Megan Evans, trying to cause an upset.
The Men's Over 45 event is dominated by current title-holder Peter McCleod (Sunderland), whose strongest challenger is expected to be Richard Bradley (Tynemouth), although last year's finalist Charlie Ponente may also pose a challenge. Jon Evans (Tynemouth) will look to retain both his County O55 and O60 titles, with previous finalist Glenn Ward (Northern) once again his main threat in the O55 and Jon's Welsh compatriot Adrian Alderton seeded to meet him in the O60. Gill Millington (Tynemouth) defends her Ladies' O40 title against Sarah Bedford (Northern).
There are also Men's B and C graded events and Racketball and Doubles taking place and spectators are welcome throughout the tournament, culminating in the event finals on Sunday 26th January from around 2:30pm, with the main Ladies' and Men's finals scheduled to start from around around 6:30pm and 7pm respectively.
