The draws for the Northumbria County Closed 2022 to be held at Tynemouth Squash Club, from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th January have now been published on this site here and on the dedicated County Closed site here.

There have been over 60 entries in the Men's graded (A to D) events and 8 entries in the Women's event, with plate events for first match losers.

Liam Gutcher and Sam Ward, the current Men's and Women's champions, are defending the titles they won as recently as three months ago in October 2021. Gutcher, who now has two County titles under his belt, is expected to be pushed all the way by last year's runner-up and fellow Newcastle University player Chris Wiggins with Northern's Michael Mattimore and Cai Younger also in the mix. Northern's Sam Ward, 8-times Women's County champion, will be challenged once again by former champion and last year's runner-up Hannah Cliff of Tynemouth, with Rebecca Symmons (Northumberland Club) also posing a threat.

All are welcome to attend throughout the tournament. The trophies will be presented following the completion of the finals on Sunday evening.
