All 1st round ties in both the Men's League Cups A and B have been completed, with winning teams progressing into the quarter finals being played over the next two weeks.

In League Cup A (for each club's highest team in Divisions 1 to 3), Boldon 1 of Division 2 produced the only slight upset of the 1st round beating Tynemouth 3 (bottom of Division 1) by 3-2, and in the all-Division 1 clashes there were also narrow 3-2 wins for Newbiggin 1 over Sunderland 2, and Chester-le-Street 1 over Benwell Hill. There were no shocks in the two Division 1 v Division 3 clashes, Westoe 2 proving too strong for Consett 1 of Division 3, winning 5-0, and Northern 3 overcoming David Lloyd Sunderland 4-1 in a very competitive tie. Division 1 champions Northumberland 2 went through on a bye, Division 1 runners-up Primrose 1 beat Division 2 champions Hexham 2 by 4-1, and Eldon Leisure 1 received a walkover from Concordia 1.

In League Cup B (for each club's highest team in Divisions 4 and 5), Alnwick narrowly overcame Tynemouth Social 3-2 and now travel to Northern 5 who received a bye through to the quarter finals. Chester-le-Street 3 and Primrose 4 both received 1st round walkovers and now meet each other in the quarter finals. Newcastle University 3 (2nd in DIvision 5) beat higher-placed opposition in the shape of Consett 2 of Division 4 by 5-0, to set up a quarter final tie against Division 5 champions Northern Juniors, who beat Division 4 strugglers Eldon Leisure 3 by 5-0. Sunderland 4 progressed through a walkover against Northumberland 5, to meet Division 4 leaders Boldon 2 in the quarter final.

The Ladies' League Cup started with Tynemouth Ladies 2 narrowly beating Primrose Ladies by 3-2 in the only quarter final tie (a Division 2 double header), to set up a semi-final tie with Northern Ladies 2 In the other semi-final, Northumbria University Ladies (5th-placed in Division 1) will play Northern Ladies 3.

The League Cup semi finals will be held at the Northumberland Club from 9th to 11th May, followed by the Men's and Ladies' Northumbria Cup semi finals (for the top four Men's and Ladies' teams) on 12th and 13th May, culminating in the Cup Finals and Presentation Night on Sat 14th May.
