Cup Finals & Presentation Night (14 May)
13 May 2022

The Northumberland Club will play host to the Cup Finals and End-of-Season Presentation Night on Saturday 14th May.

The action starts at 1:15pm with the Ladies' League Cup Final (for Ladies teams outside the top 4) between Northumbria University Ladies (5th in Division 1) and Division 2 champions Northern Ladies 2. Northern will have a score to settle after losing to Northumbria University in their last Division 1 match of the first half, meaning that the University climbed above Northern by a single point to save themselves from relegation at Northern's expense!

Then at 3pm it's the Men's League Cup A and B FInals (for Div 1-3 and Div 4-5 teams respectively). In League Cup A, favourites and unbeaten Division 1 champions Northumberland 2 face Chester-le-Street 1, both teams seeing off their semi-final opponents 5-0. The League Cup B final is between Northern 5 of Division 4 and Newcastle University 3 of Division 5, who must be strong contenders after their stunning 5-0 win over Division 4 champions and Cup B favourites Boldon 2 in the semi-final.

The afternoon is rounded off at 5:30pm with the Men's and Ladies' Northumbria Cup Finals (for the top 4 teams in their respective Leagues) where Northern will be looking to emulate Tynemouth's feat of 2019 by winning both Northumbria trophies and completing the 'double double', a clean sweep of Men's and Ladies' League and Cup titles. However Northern Men face tough opposition in cupholders and Premier runners-up Tynemouth, and Northern Ladies have a potentially even tougher task against Newcastle University Ladies, so both finals should be great contests.

There is normally a great atmosphere for these finals, with free entry throughout and also to the Presentation Night which starts around 8:30pm at the conclusion of the matches. Certificates will be presented to all divisional winners and runners-up and 'players of the division', and trophies and medals to all cup winners and runners-up. The evening will also provide an opportunity to look back on the 2021/22 season and forward to the 2022 Summer League with fellow squash enthusiasts in convivial surroundings.

This rounds off a week of cup squash at the Northumberland Club, who are also hosting the Cup Semi-Finals from Mon 9th to Fri 13th May as follows (all 7:15pm starts):
