Ladies' Northumbria Cup (for the top 4 Division 1 teams)
The semi-finals were held at the Northumberland Club on Thursday 10th April. The finals will take place on Saturday 12th April (5:30pm).
The Ladies' competition features league champions and overwhelming favourites Newcastle University Ladies 1, 2nd-placed Northumberland Ladies 1, Northern Ladies 1 and Tynemouth Ladies.
Semi-finals (Thu 10th April):
- Newcastle University Ladies 1 bt Tynemouth Ladies 3-2
- Northumberland Ladies 1 bt Northern Ladies 4-1
Final (Sat 12th April):
- Newcastle University Ladies 1 v Northumberland Ladies
Men's Northumbria Cup (for the top 4 Premier teams)
The semi-finals and finals were held at the Northumberland Club on Friday 11th April. The finals will take place on Saturday 12th April (5:30pm).
The semi-finals saw league champions and favourites Northern 1 taking on 4th-placed Northumberland 1C, and runners-up Newcastle University 1B playing 3rd-placed Northumerland 1B, and two of the top three Northumberland Club teams (1B and 1C). Northern proved too strong for 1C, running out 5-0 winners despite 1C 4th string Kim Hay's efforts, taking her opponent Mark Dinsley to 5 games. In the battle of the '1Bs', the University were taken all the way when Northumberland 4th string Jack Hunter levelled the match with an 11-9 win in the 5th over Daniel Sarkissian. In the final match on court, University 2nd string Dominic Cox eventually found the answer against never-say-die Lizzie Little, clinching the tie 11-9 in the 5th, and the match for the University by 3-2.

Final (Sat 12th April):
- Northern 1 v Newcastle University 1B
Men's League Cup A [for Div 1 to Div 3 teams]
At the quarter-final stage, Division 1 champions and favourites Chester-le-Street 1 knocked out Northumberland 4 by 4-1. Division 1 runners-up Eldon 1 beat Primrose 1 also by 4-1 in a crucial Division 1 promotion and Cup A quarter-final double-header. Meanwhile Northern Juniors 1 narrowly defeated Newcastle University 3 by 3-2 in a top-of-Division 2 and quarter-final double-header, and Northern 2 overcame Westoe 2 by 5-0 in their quarter-final.
In the first semi-final on 2nd April, Eldon 1 stunned their Division 1 rivals Chester-le-Street 1 with a 4-1 win. The much-anticipated second semi-final between club rivals Northern Juniors 1 (Division 2 champions) and Northern 2 (3rd-placed in Division 1) resulted in a 4-1 win for Juniors, who remain unbeaten all season in league and cup. Can Eldon 1 stop them in the final?

Men's League Cup B [for Div 4 & 5 teams]
Chester-le-Street 3 reached the semi-finals with a 4-1 win over Northumberland 6, and Consett 2 were given a walkover by Tynemouth 4. In an extremely close semi-final encounter, Consett came through 3-2, winning their 3rd, 4th and 5th string ties all by 3-2.
Joint favourites Newcastle University 4 and Benwell Hill, having comfortably dispatched Northern 5 and Tynemouth Social respectively in the quarter finals, were due to meet each other in the semi-finals, however Uni 4 conceded the tie, putting Benwell straight through to the final on a walkover.
Benwell are hot favourites but Consett 2 will be ready, having successfully survived the Division 4/5 playoff earlier in the week.

Ladies' League Cup (for 5th-placed Division 1 team and all Division 2 teams)
The only quarter-final tie between Northern Ladies 2 and 3 ended predictably with a comforatable win for Ladies 2, who went on to defeat Northumberland Ladies 2 (5th-placed in Division 1) by 4-1 in the semi-finals.
The other semi-final between Newcastle Ladies 2 and Primrose Ladies was a very close affair, Primrose coming out on top by 3-2.
Based on league form, Northern will be favourites to lift the cup having beaten Primrose twice in the 2nd half, but Primrose did win in the 1st half so it could be close.

The Cup Finals and Presentation Night will be held at the Northumberland Club on Saturday 12th April, when the winners of the Northumbria Squash Raffle will also be announced. All are welcome!

An important point to note is that under League rule 5.3, In order to be eligible to play in Cup semi-final and/or final ties, a player must have already played at least three team matches for the relevant club in the relevant League during the season, of which at least one match was during the second half of the season, unless there are mitigating circumstances (eg injury) notified to the League Secretary and accepted by the Northumbria Squash Committee.
