The Men's Winter League is now past the halfway point, with most teams having played a number of second half fixtures.
The Ladies' Winter League completed in December and was converted into a Spring 2026 League whose fixtures are also now well underway.
Here is a quick update on the latest position in each division.
Men's Premier:
Northern 1 are racing away with the title with 10 wins from 10, The other Northumbria Cup places (for top-4 teams) are occupied by Northumberland 1C and 1B and University 1, with no strong challengers at this stage.
Meanwhile newly-promoted Eldon 1 prop up the table with just one win so far. University 2 occupy tthe other relegation place, and Tynemouth 1 are likely to be the relegation playoff candidates, with Westoe 1, Northumberland 1A and the other newly-promoted team Chester-le-Street 1 looking safe in mid-table..
Division 1:
Sunderland 1 are unbeaten at the top and look favourites to return to the top flight. Resurgent Newbiggin 1 are well-placed to join them after a 7-year absence from the Premier, with Northern 2 challenging for a promotion chance, most likely through the playoffs. Northumberland 4 are also well-placed but cannot be promoted as clubs are limited to a maximum of 3 teams in the Premier Division.
Down at the bottom, winless Northern 3 and University 3 are in the most trouble, with Primrose 1 hoping to overtake Tynemouth 2 to avoid the relegation playoff place.
Division 2:
It's between four teams for the promotion places - Westoe 2 are in the strongest position, followed closely by Northumberland 5 and Hexham 1, with Primrose 2 still in the hunt.
At the other end winless Sunderland 2 are almost certain to be relegated and Northern 4 look likely to join them. Boldon 2 are heading for the relegation playoffs whilst Consett 1 should be safe.
Division 3:
Tynemouth 3 are powering away at the top with 10 straight wins since their opening-day defeat at the hands of Northern 5. Chester-le-Street 2, with matches in hand, are Tynemouth's main title rivals, and Benwell Hill look a safe bet for the promotion playoffs.
It's close at the bottom with the relegation automatic and playoff places to be decided between University 4, Chester-le-Street 3 and Primrose 3
Division 4:
Consett 2 have wobbled recently allowing Newbiggin 2 to take over at the top with Northumberland 6 and Concordia 2 vying for the promotion playoff place and Boldon 3 not out of it yet.
Primrose 4 and Sunderland 3 occupy the relegation positions with Tynemouth 4 climbing out into the relegation playoff place. Eldon 3 look safe at this stage.
Division 5:
Northern Juniors 1 lead the way with Consett 3 and Chester-le-Street 4 battling for the other automatic promotion place. Boldon 4 and Northern 6 remain in contention for the promotion playoff place if any of the teams above them slip up.
Newbiggin 3 and Hexham 3 are trying to avoid finishing at the bottom, with Concordia 3 pulling away.
Ladies' Winter League
Division 1:
University Ladies 1 narrowly retained the title with 111 points, just 3 points ahead of Tynemouth Ladies 1 and 5 points ahead of Northumberand Ladies 1B. Northumberand Ladies 1A finished fourth with Northern Ladies 1 at the bottom.
Division 2:
In another close finish, Northern Ladies 2 took the title by 4 points over Primrose Ladies, followed by University Ladies 2, Northern ladies 3 and newly-formed Tynemouth Ladies 2.
As a result of Northern Ladies 1 and 2 finishing in the relegation and promotion places, under League rules both teams remained in their respective divisions for the Spring 2026 League.
Ladies' Spring 2026 League
Division 1:
Northumberland Ladies have merged their A and B teams into a single team so are expected to be stronger in the new 4-team division, opening their account against University Ladies 1. Tynemouth Ladies 1 got off to a flying start with a win over University Ladies 1, who have since defeated Northern Ladies 1.
Division 2:
Primrose Ladies have come racing out of the blocks with three wins, including a 3-2 win over their main rivals Northern Ladies 2, who have also lost to University Ladies 2 by the same score, each time fielding only four players and conceding the 5th string tie to lose the match unfortunately.
