Westoe finally got their hands on the Northumbria Squash Summer League Cup, ending a run of seven previous playoff disappointments with a dramatic first-ever title triumph!

Four teams descended on Tynemouth for finals night, with the top seeds Tynemouth Vikings facing surprise package Consett in the opening semi-final. The Vikings proved too strong, securing a convincing 4-0 victory to book their place in the final. The second semi-final was a much closer affair, with Westoe edging Eldon 3-1 after several fiercely contested matches, including a five-game thriller between Paul Little and Will Brocklehurst.

The final provided another tense encounter between the league's top two seeds. Tynemouth and Westoe traded victories, but a vital game win from Paul Little left the title resting on the final match between Nick Southern and Dave Elsender Jnr. With just one game needed for Tynemouth, Dave held his nerve superbly, securing a 3-0 victory and handing Westoe a 7-6 games victory and their first Summer League crown.
