The updated League Rules for 2017/18 were approved by the Committee following the AGM. They are available via the Rules link under 'General' on the homepage.
The main rule updates are:
- More consistency to wording / definitions throughout
- More prominence to the Summer League rules throughout
- More explanation of the structure of each league (section 2)
- Formalisation of the 2nd half fixture re-arrangement window to the end of January (rule 3.3)
- Clarification that the rules on 2nd half re-nomination, and introduction of new players in the final quarter, apply to team top-5 positions only (rules 4.6 and 4.8)
- Change to the 2nd half minimum appearances rule for club top-5 players from '2 out of the first 4 matches' to '3 matches' (rule 4.7)
- Clarification that the 'tying' rule ties a player to the higher team most played-for; amendment for Chairman's proposal that players don't become tied for Cup matches (rule 5.2)
- Update of the rule covering prior exchange of team orders and consequences of errors (rule 6.5)
- Definition of a match win in the event of a 2-2 result in the Summer League (rule 7.1)
- Explanation of promotion, relegation, etc in the Ladies' League (rule 8.2)
- Amendment so that a team withdrawing in the 2nd half has only its 2nd half fixtures voided (rule 8.5)
- Confirmation that the Northumbria Squash Committee is the approving body for rule changes (rule 9.4)
