Men's League Cups 2017/18
15 Oct 2017

The draws for the Men's League Cups A and B are now available through the Tournaments link on the Homepage. The Men's League Cups are for each club's top team in Divisions 1 to 3 (Cup A) and in Divisions 4 to 7 (Cup B), so not all teams in the League are involved.

Provisional dates have been set for all first round and confirmed second round ties. For unconfirmed second round and quarter-final ties, the closing date for the round in question is currently displayed as a default. If opposing teams are due to meet in a league match before the closing date for the round in question, I have proposed a "double-header' at the league match date and venue, which is permitted under the rules with the agreement of both captains.

For each tie, both team captains should confirm their agreement to the proposed date to each other and the League Sec or suggest alternative dates as soon as possible, bearing in mind existing league fixtures, and once confirmed the home team captain should reserve courts accordingly.

The Ladies' League Cup will be drawn at halfway, for teams playing in Ladies' Divisions 1 and 2 during the second half. The Men's and Ladies' Northumbria Cups will as usual be held at the end of the season for the top four Men's and Ladies' teams.

Finally a reminder that in Cup matches:

i) normal nomination / team order rules apply, with the added bonus that players who have become tied to a higher team for League matches may still play for their nominated lower team in Cup matches (updated rule 5.2);

ii) playing 'up' in Cup matches does not count towards becoming tied to a higher team in League matches (rule 5.2);

iii) appearances by top-5 players do not count towards the minimum number of league appearances required to avoid penalties under rule 4.7;

iv) costs should be shared equally between the home and away teams.

Good luck and let me know if you have any queries.

John Thompson (League Secretary)
