County Closed 2019

The draws and results so far for the Northumbria County Closed 2019, being held at Tynemouth Squash Club between Wed 23rd and Sun 27th January, are available through the Tournaments section on the League Master homepage.

In a strong Men's A event, number one seed Liam Gutcher (Newcastle University) attempts to regain the title he lost last year to second-seeded Max Forster (Northumberland Club), with multiple former champion Dave Barnett (Northumberland Club), previous finalist Paul Lord (Newbiggin) and a host of other challengers providing strong competition. There will be some very competitve matches throughout this event, with the first round on Thursday from 7pm.

In the Ladies event, current champion Sam Ward (Northern) is seeded to meet former finalist Emma Gregson (Northumberland Club).

The Men's Over 45 event is dominated by previous winner and last year's losing finalist Peter McCleod (Sunderland), whose strongest challenger is expected to be Richard Bradley (Tynemouth). Jon Evans (Tynemouth) will look to retain his County O55 title under challenge from previous finalist Glenn Ward (Northern) and Russell Hunter (Tynemouth), and Jon is also expected to capture the O60 title at his first attempt from holder Ron Freeman (Newbiggin). Louise Robertson (Tynemouth) defends her Ladies' O40 title against former winner Gill Millington (Tynemouth).

There also Men's B, C, and D graded events and Racketball and Doubles taking place and spectators are welcome throughout the tournament, culminating in the event finals on Sunday 27th January from 2:30pm, with the main Ladies' and Men's finals scheduled to start from around around 5:20pm and 6pm respectively.
