All of the quarter final ties in each of the three League Cup competitions are now complete. Here are the details:

Men's League Cup A [for Div 1 to 3 teams]

The top five Division 1 teams and top three Division 2 teams reached the last 8 of the most competitive Cup A competition for several years.

Newcastle University 3 (5th-placed in Division 1) started proceedings with a 4-1 victory over Primrose 1 (3rd in Division 2). Then Eldon Leisure 1 (newly-promoted to Division 1 after finishing 2nd in Division 2) delivered a major shock beating Northumberland 2 (subsequently promoted to the Premier after finishing 2nd in Division 1) by 3-2, with wins at 3, 4 and 5 in the order. Next, in the only all-Division 1 clash, Sunderland 1 (Division 1 champions and Cup favourites) fielded a strong enough team to see off the threat of a weakened Westoe 2, winning 4-1. Finally, the cup-holders Tynemouth 2  bounced back from the disappointment of just missing out on promotion to the Premier with a 5-0 win over runaway Division 2 champions Northern 3, which was closer than the scoreline suggests.

Men's League Cup B [for Div 4 to 7 teams]

After a number of second-round surprises, only four Division 4 teams remained in the Cup B quarter finals, with three Division 5 teams and one Division 6 team completing the line-up.

The action started with an all-Division 5 clash, Primrose 3 (2nd) defeating Scotezzi Squash (5th) 4-1 in a league and cup 'double' which also clinched promotion for Primrose. Then in an all-Division 4 clash, Eldon Leisure 2 (4th) beat Consett 2 (5th) 4-1, giving Eldon a semi-final presence in both Men's League Cups. Next, Cup favourites Northumberland 4 (Division 4 champions) put an end to Division 6 giant-killers Northern Juniors 2's cup run with an emphatic 5-0 victory. In the final tie, Dunston 2 (6th in Division 5) caused an upset by beating a weakened Northern 5 (6th in Division 4) 3-2.

Ladies' League Cup [for Div 1 & 2 teams]

All eight teams from Ladies Divisions 1 and 2 were included in this competition, and there have been no shocks so far with strongly-fancied Northumberland Ladies (last season's Northumbria Cup winners) beating Tynemouth Ladies 2 by 4-1, and Northern Ladies 3 proving too strong for Concordia Ladies, winning 5-0. Unfortunately Tynemouth Ladies 3 had to concede their tie against competition dark horses Hexham Ladies, who are now through to play Northumberland Ladies in the semis. Finally favourites Primrose Ladies conceded their tie to Eldon Ladies as they were unable to play in the semi-finals.
