James Southern got Vikings off to a flying start but Stephen Boyer quickly levelled it up for Westoe. Meanwhile Eric Mok appeared to be cruising to a 3-0 victory over the very weary Paul Little (who had just played an epic 5-set semi), but Paul rallied miraculously to take the 3rd before Eric reasserted his authority to win 3-1. This left the 2nd string players Nick Southern (Vikings) and Dave Elsender (Westoe) to battle it out in the decider. Westoe needed nothing less than a 3-0 victory, which Dave Elsender duly delivered in swashbuckling style to level the ties at 2-2 with Westoe winning 7-6 on games allowing them to lift the Summer League trophy for the first time.
